Track critical devices, such as servers and switches, and gather vital network information.
WhatsUp Gold starts with an intelligent discovery process, so you know what you have and how it is connected.
DOWNLOAD WHATSUP GOLD FREE EDITIONThe intelligent discovery can scan the entire network, analyzing various data points to detail its architecture. WhatsUp Gold creates detailed inventory reports on all your assets—routers, switches, wireless access points, servers and automatically creates topology maps —in less than an hour.
When it comes time for a network audit, the Inventory Management system is just what you need. WhatsUp Gold builds inventory reports through agentless polling that uses SNMP and WMI. It gathers hardware asset details such as serial numbers, firmware revisions, model numbers and service tags, and operating system information, such as services, Windows Updates applied, what software is installed and more —all in an easy-to-digest and share format.
By continuously monitoring your systems, WhatsUp Gold can spot problems and determine the root cause so IT can fix issues before they impact critical applications and result in unhappy end users. Network monitoring allows IT to manage physical infrastructure such as servers and can do the same for virtual workloads. WhatsUp Gold tracks server performance, traffic loads, volume utilization, hardware status and temperature.

What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?
What's Up Gold is a fantastic tool, personally I love the automatic discovery of the network that allows me to have a topology almost instantly, on the other hand also the little consumption of resources. Personally, I am a fan of the NTA module and of Log Management and the Config Management module, it really is a very complete management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?
Nothing all is really fantastic, is the best tool.

You can't maintain high availability metrics without monitoring your systems. It starts with knowing if the device is available and then extends to how it performs across the network.
WhatsUp Gold shows overall availability in terms of the percentage of time the device is up and running during a set period. For example, if a device is down one day out of every 100, it has 99% availability. With careful device monitoring, you can increase that to 99.9% or up to five 9's - or beyond.
Device availability is closely tied to network uptime. If one device is down or has reduced availability, it can impact the entire network traffic ecosystem, creating bottlenecks and slowing the entire network.
WhatsUp Gold uses active monitors that work with SNMP, SSH WMI and various other protocols to track the availability of your network systems. It uses SNMP for Linux/Unix and WMI for Windows-based systems. You can even monitor your website beyond just seeing if the port is available with TCP/IP monitors for any TCP/UDP/SSL ports, but also check it for certain content using HTTPS and HTTP. In addition, Passive Monitors find and alert you to issues in near real-time and do so with SNMP traps, Syslog messages and Windows Events.
